The growth of the Indian economy from the 2000’s to the present and further, has been tremendous and yet still expanding. The opening up of the Indian economy to the world and to its global conglomerates, has led to the influx of both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), along with the inflow of revenue and a modern cutting-edge technology. Thereby which has increased the importance of private sector and MNC’s for the Indian economy considerably. Previously, the Indian market was ruled by the Government enterprises and public companies, but the scenario of the Indian market changed since the markets were opened for foreign investments in 1991. This saw the rise of the Indian private sector companies invested in Banking, Retail, Telecommunication, Automobiles, Insurance, Manufacturing, etc. Sectors and new companies came up which prioritised a customer’s need, offered speedy service through skilled manpower and increased the inflow of a corporate culture of more products, services and conveniences.
Academics & Career
Post Graduate Diploma in Management, is a two-year full time programme equivalent to an MBA, which is offered by our college as an in-house designed curriculum based on a learning and experience based combination of theory and practical knowledge. This is to provide the students with necessary foundation for future and an advanced knowledge of the subject and of the field. The college believes in the philosophy that practical experience, exposure and theoretical knowledge all together ensure the application of classroom fundamentals to real life situations. Hence the programme is specifically crafted to keep the applicative part of theoretical learning in the corporate world, with the college offering a wide range of specialisations in Finance, Operations, Marketing and Information Management. Thereby making PGDM the most sought after programme of BITS, being offered since 1994 it is widely acclaimed for its strong curriculum in both the industry and academic circles. It is designed not only to impart the knowledge of core subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Finance and Marketing, but also lays special stress on developing skills and competencies through exposure to real business situations in the form of case studies.
BITS leverages its close linkages with the industry and companies to assess their emerging needs and thereby factors them into the programmes and students. The latest and updated PGDM curriculum has been launched since July 2014.
